Get your shots. Save a life.

This is my Public Service Announcement, folks. You need to call your doctor TODAY and schedule your tetanus/pertussis booster shot. Go ahead. Go call NOW. I'll be here when you get back.

Why?
Pertussis (whooping cough) can be fatal to children under 6 months of age. Adults are the carriers. Adults can carry pertussis and have no symptoms. Children being vaccinated do not reach full immunity until they are 18 months old, because they have to have a series of shots. In other words, you could transmit a potentially fatal case of whooping cough to an infant and never even feel sick.

The pertussis booster for adults is new. I had a tetanus shot two years ago (because I am Superklutz) and the pertussis booster was not included at that time, so I have to go in for another shot. My appointment is next Wednesday. If you are going to be around an infant— like Finn, for example— you need to get the shot, and you need to get it sooner rather than later. It's as simple as that.

Get your flu shot while you are there. If not for you - do it for the sake of any baby you will be around over the next few months. Do it for Finn!

OK, that's all of the scary stuff for now. More cute pictures coming up later.

You will be happy to know that your cousin Valerie has had her booster! Not willingly, but because we applied to be foster/adoptive parents a year ago. It is ironic that natural parents can feed their children cheetohs and kool-aid three times a day for a year and it's "okay" but foster parents must have saftey plugs for their electrical outlets to foster a 12 year old or they will be turned down for unsafe living conditions. I love our state government!
