OK, I have to tell you all about my first diaper, which I changed the first day we were home from the hospital. Not that I love discussing bodily functions, but this is important because it was my FIRST diaper. EVER. Yes, I have managed to go 32 years without ever changing a diaper. You too can accomplish this easily by doing the following whenever you are asked to change a diaper: 1. Frowning and 2. Repeating the phrase, "I don't do diapers."
But now that I am a mommy and am totally head over heels for that little precious bundle, I thought I'd better get started. I watched the nurses, Jonathan, and Mom change his teensy little diapers in the hospital. They were all just barely dirty and, if not cute, were not totally gross. So I thought, suuuure, I can do this.
So our first day home I opened that diaper up and y'all, it was the Mount Vesuvius of diapers. Overflowing that tiny newborn size nappie. There was sooo much of it. It smelled horrible. And it was STILL SHOOTING OUT. All over everything. I was frantically grabbing wipe after wipe and then, of course.... you know what is coming, right?... he peed all over me. I thought Jonathan was going to bust a gut laughing.
But I managed, and now if I'm not a pro at the changing table, at least I have joined the amateur circuit.
Thankfully, there are no photos of that momentous occasion. You're welcome.
